How much is crypto taxes in the Netherlands?
There is no capital gains tax in the Netherlands. Instead, In the Netherlands cryptocurrencies are taxed as assets. You must declare the value of your crypto assets on January 1st. Your crypto must be declared in Box 3 (savings & investments). This makes them subject to a 31% wealth tax if your total assets are worth €50,000 or more.
You are not taxed on your actual gains but on a fictitious return which depends on the amount of wealth you have over €50,000. The effective fictitious return can range from 1.898% to 5.69%. You can read more in our Dutch Tax Guide.
